Wisconsin Area Codes

Located in the mid-eastern United States, Wisconsin is one of 50 states in the United States. The same is limited to Michigan and Lake Superior to the north, Lake Michigan to the east, Illinois to the south, and to Iowa and Minnesota to the west. Until 1763, the region was dominated by the French; after that period it was passed to the control of the United Kingdom. In 1783, after the end of the United States War of Independence, the Americans finally took control of the territory. The State of Wisconsin was officially created on May 29, 1848.

It has large lakes, such as Winnebago, which covers 557 square kilometers, and several waterfalls. About 48% of its territory is covered by forests. The state has a temperate climate with very cold winters. Summers tend to be very hot inland, as in regions close to the Great Lakes the temperatures tend to be milder.

Wisconsin stands out in agriculture, since it is the largest milk producer in the United States and has the largest cattle herd in the country. However, the profile of its economy has changed over the years. Currently, the sectors that generate the most wealth for the State are financial and real estate services, the manufacturing industry and tourism.

Wisconsin is a pioneer state in many ways, such as the adoption of labor rights, the abolition of the death penalty and education. Its population is made up mostly of whites (87.3%), mainly Germans, Irish and Poles, and Protestants (55%). Its largest city is Milwaukee, known as “The Genuine American City” (the authentic American city).
