Education in Kazakhstan is managed by the Ministry of Education and Science. Kazakhstan has more than 10,000 schools, including 886 kindergartens, 7,594 primary schools, 1,488 general secondary schools and 587 vocational-technical educational institutions. The literacy rate in Kazakhstan is 99.5%, making it one of the most literate countries in the world. The government has made education a priority with a focus on improving quality and access to higher education. In recent years, the government has implemented several initiatives such as introducing new specialized disciplines to meet labor market demands, expanding student access to universities through scholarship programs and distance learning initiatives, and encouraging universities to partner with foreign universities.
