Education in Indonesia is a right that is provided to everyone of the population. It is compulsory for children between the ages of 6 and 15 years old to attend school, and the primary education lasts six years. After primary school, students can then choose to pursue either junior high school or vocational training. Junior high school lasts three years and provides students with a more academic education. Vocational training focuses more on providing skills for employment opportunities in the future. Upon completion of junior high school, students can then decide if they would like to continue their studies at a senior high school or university. Senior high schools offer courses that prepare students for university entrance exams, while universities provide higher level education in a variety of disciplines such as mathematics, science and engineering. Indonesia also has several international schools that offer foreign curriculums such as American and British curriculums tailored for those who would like to study abroad.
