Royalton, Illinois

According to ablogtophone, Royalton is a small village in southern Illinois, located in Franklin County. It is bordered by the towns of West Frankfort, Christopher, Benton and Sesser. The population was 1,128 at the 2010 census.

The village was founded in 1882 when the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad was extended to Royalton from Christopher. It was named after Royalton Township, which had been organized in 1875 and named after Royalton, Vermont.

Royalton has a few historic buildings that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Royal Theater and the former First National Bank building. The theater is a rare example of an Art Deco style theater still in operation today. The former bank building is now occupied by a local restaurant called “The Old Bank” which serves some of the best burgers around!

The town’s main street is lined with several businesses including a grocery store, hardware store, pharmacy and other specialty shops. There are also several restaurants to choose from such as Pizza Hut, McDonalds and Subway. The town also features two parks – South Park and North Park – which provide recreational activities such as playgrounds, basketball courts and picnic areas for residents to enjoy year-round.

According to beautyphoon, Royalton hosts many annual events throughout the year including their annual Fall Festival each September which features live music performances, carnival rides and food vendors from all around Southern Illinois. There’s also an Easter Egg Hunt held each spring at North Park for children up to age 12 where they can search for hidden eggs filled with candy or small toys!

The village has its own school district which consists of three schools: Royalton Elementary School (K-2), Royalton Middle School (3-6) and Royalton High School (7-12). The district strives to provide quality education while maintaining strong ties with the community through various organizations such as 4-H clubs, sports teams and student government groups that all work together to promote school spirit among its students.

All in all, Royalton is a friendly small town that offers plenty of opportunities for its residents to get involved in their community while still providing access to nearby cities like West Frankfort or Benton if they need something more than what’s available locally. With its beautiful parks and quaint downtown area filled with unique shops and restaurants it’s easy to see why so many people choose to call this charming little village home.
