Interstate 189 or I -189 is a short Interstate Highway in the U.S. state of Vermont. I-189 spurts from I-89 to US 7 in the city of Burlington, the state’s largest city. I-189 is 2 kilometers long.

Travel directions

I-189 forms a bypass on the south side of Burlington. The highway begins at a modified trumpet interchange with I-89, which also provides access to Kennedy Drive. The highway has 2×2 lanes and ends 2 kilometers further at a junction with US 7.

History

The highway was opened on November 29, 1962. At the time, the highway was built 1 kilometer further to Home Avenue, but this part was never put into use. At the time, there were plans to build I-189 further north through Burlington.
