The original name for Fordville was “Ford’s Crossing” due to its location at a river crossing point, but it was eventually changed to Fordville after its founder, Joseph Ford. Today, Fordville has a population of about 500 people and is mostly an agricultural community with many farms dotting the landscape. It also serves as an important transportation hub for travelers heading north or east from Grand Forks or west from Winnipeg.
