Chaweng is the best beach on Koh Samui with picturesque bays, fine sand, crystal clear water and a slight slope towards the sea. This is a very long (6 km) and beautiful beach, offering its guests a huge selection of hotels: from five-star resorts to simple bamboo bungalows. During the day, Chaweng is a center for water sports, windsurfing and jet skiing, at night it turns into a large dance arena.

Chaweng beaches
Chaweng is the most popular beach among tourists on the coast of Koh Samui. This is a fun, crowded and often drunk round-the-clock hangout. There are many bars, discos and other entertainment venues on the shore that are open until dawn. Life here is “boiling” even during the day: there are vendors of drinks, fruits, ice cream and local Thai dishes (something like the familiar “… baklava, tubes with condensed milk…!”.

Attractions and entertainment Chaweng
People go to Chaweng, first of all, for a beach holiday, and not for excursions. A favorite entertainment among tourists is a sailing regatta. Also, vacationers are offered riding on jet skis and banana boats, parachuting, windsurfing, kiting and much more. For those who wish, there are instructors and schools that will help you master various water sports in a short time.
Not far from the beach is the Buddhist temple Wat Sawang. It is remarkable in that it is painted in a dazzling snow-white color, unlike other Buddhist temples, which are often decorated with rich bright colors. The locals treat this place with great respect and often come to pray, meditate and talk with the monks.
Another notable place near Chaweng is Khao Hua Jak Pagoda. It is located on a 90-meter mountain, and from there a gorgeous view of the surroundings opens up: the beaches, as well as the runway of Koh Samui airport.
Infrastructure and hotels
Chaweng is a popular place among tourists, so everything is in order with the infrastructure. All along the coast, especially in its central part, there are hotels of different price categories, bars, restaurants, shops, souvenir shops, as well as spa and massage parlors.
Since this place is considered to be a “party place”, most of the bars and discos are open until 3:00-4:00, and some do not close until the morning.
Finding a hotel on Chaweng Beach is not a problem. There are many housing options of different price categories: from five-star hotels of large international chains to economy-class guest houses. If you are looking for a budget option, it is not even necessary to book accommodation before arrival: it will be more convenient and in some cases even cheaper to do it on the spot, since there are simply no many economy class guesthouses in popular booking systems. But if you need a luxury hotel, you should take care of the reservation in advance, especially during the high season.
Housing prices in Chaweng are on average lower than in the whole island. A double room in a budget hotel will cost from about 400 THB (without air conditioning), with air conditioning – from 600 THB.
