Anmoore has a rich history of coal mining and railroads that began during the late 19th century. The first railroad line in Harrison County was built here, connecting Anmoore with Clarksburg and Grafton. In 1906, coal mining began at Anmoore Mine No. 1 followed by several other mines in the area over the years.
