How to Make a Flared Skirt

Making a skirt that flares at the bottom is easier than you think. If you like the style of the flared skirts, but can not find one style or size that fits, it’s time to break down some of the very basic sewing supplies and get to work. With the right supplies, all of which you can get from your local sewing or craft-supply store, you can make a skirt that flares at the bottom in just one day.

  • Measure around your waist and hips. Write down the measurements.
  • Figure out the number of panels needed for the implementation of the skirt. Each panel measures 3 1/2 inches at the top. Please measure your waist and share 2 1/2 to determine the amount of panels you will need (this will be taken into account in the 1/2-inch seam allowance on both sides of each Panel). You have the opportunity to try out the pinched skirt before stitching to make changes at the waist.
  • Draw the Panel pattern a pattern on a piece of paper. Start with 3 1/2-inch line at the top. Measure the desired length of the skirt down. Make a half lines going to this length, add 1 1/2 inches for the seam allowance. The bottom of the disks should measure 5 1/2 inches wide. Your length measurements is the connecting lines website that connects the top and bottom of the Panel. Your pattern piece resembles a triangle-shaped, which is wider at the bottom than at the top.
  • Place the fabric on a flat surface. Trace around the pattern piece using the chalk, until you have the desired amount of panels, especially for maternity fashion.
  • Cut along the chalk lines, using the formulas in the track the fabric with scissors.

  • Pin all the cut pattern pieces together. All of the formulas should be attached to the ornaments on the sides of the fabric facing each other.Pin 1/2 inch for seam allowance. Continue to pin the pieces together until all of them are attached to.
  • Decide where to place the zipper in and remove the pins on the two panels in the area.

  • Stitch the zipper to the other two panels, and again to pin the panels.

  • Sew all pinned to the Panel pieces together. Iron out all the seams open.
  • Fold the top of the skirt 1/2 inches and sew to the top of the Panel at the top of all the joined pieces to form.

  • Make a hem by folding over the bottom, twice, and the stitching along all joined the Panel.

  • Pin the two end panels in together and sew 1/2 inch seam allowance on the book to join together and complete the flare skirt.
