A smartphone crash can happen quickly. Especially if an app does not run reliably or there is an error in the updates. With a detailed Android backup, you can backup all your data without having to roam the smartphone before. We show you how to do it. For this you need only a PC, a micro USB port, at least Android 4.0, Android ADB or SDK (previously installed) and activated USB debugging.
The ADB Command
If you already have experience with backups, you can enter the ADB commands directly and deal with the following warnings. For this variant you do not need any further software. And you can get more information from uptonstyles.
Just a little understanding of the command lines and inputs are helpful. And so you create the backup:
Connects your smartphone to your PC.
Activate the input prompt (Windows key + R, then “cmd” and confirm with Enter) on the PC.
In the input prompt, type the command “adb backup -all”.
Now the smartphone asks you if you really want to start the backup. This question is confirmed by the button “Save my data”. If you want, you can set a password to encrypt the backup in addition. In this case you should keep the password and keep it well.
Now the backup runs and is stored on the PC under “backup.ab”. The backup is located in the same folder as the adb.exe.
The backup may take a while, depending on the amount of data. Once the process is complete, you can close the input prompt and disconnect the smartphone from the PC.
Connects your smartphone via USB to your PC.
Restarts the input prompt as described above.
In the prompt, type “adb restore backup.ab”. If your backup is in a different folder, you must specify the appropriate folder path, for example “adb restore c:\Android\Backups\Backup2015.ab”.
Your smartphone now runs the restoration and ask you for the password, if you specified a backup.Otherwise, leave the field blank and tap “Restore My Data”.
Once recovery is complete, your smartphone restarts and all data is back at the time of backup.
Option 2: The Ultimate Backup Tool
When you visit the XDA Developers, you will find the Ultimate Backup Tool. This tool applies all the ADB commands already described above. However, here you have various options available. You decide for the selection options of your choice and the tool does everything else. The tool can be changed to the German language.
